Shipping Updates
PANAMA CANAL - Transit officials say the number of ships traversing the canal each day is “practically back to normal.”
SUEZ CANAL - The number of container ships transiting the Suez Canal remains significantly reduced due to attacks on shipping vessels. The Suez Canal connects the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea. As much as 30% of global container trade typically traverses that passage. Danish shipping giant A.P. Moller-Maersk recently announced plans to continue avoiding this route, opting for the longer shipping route around Africa until “well into 2025.”
